A Random You In Summer

I had no idea how many times my mom has yelled at me asking me to go out from my quarters (read: my sweet room). She liked nagging about this bad habit of me, when I can stay in my room for hours studying and ignoring everything. Well, not my fault. I just got immersed too deeply? Moreover, it altered me from a loving girl into an untouchable woman, totally! It'll need an alarm from my tummy to summon me out and socializing with family again haha.

She is a great mother and I know she did it because she was worried. Why? As I tend to skip my meals and sleep time when I'm busy with something. Hence I got tired too easily for doing nothing. This, of course freaking her out. But apparently it took some times before eventually I come into realization how important health is. Peace hehe.😄

And here is the story of how I finally step into a decision of doing workout again, which was a real struggle for me~

I met this great person. He was a random stranger with thoughtful mind. The kind of person who you can talk to freely and a real down to earth one! As he works at multinational company and held a high position there, but still be opened to share his good values of life to me. Lovely!

One thing that triggered me was when he shared how he works from 9-5 everyday which happens to attending meeting either online or offline with his client. I watched him went passing through from one MRT to another MRT, coming from one meeting point to another on daily basis. He barely replied to my messages quickly with those hectic schedule (he already managed the time). But guess what? It surprised me on how he stil be able to workout everyday! I was just thinking it will be too much for him, as with that sequences of activity, doing workout could cost him too much at the end of the day.

Well, it was a wrong mindset! He thought the different way tho. Let me share it with you because that blew my mind.

Thus, he held this principle in life called a balanced lifestyle. It explained that your body consists of three parts; mind, body, and soul. Each of them has to be fed with the right foods in order to gain happiness. Nah, our pyshical body needs workout to feel refreshed and ready with the activities we are serving to them. Haha, this actually tells on how I used to find myself weary eventhough I only did few activities.

It didn't make me do the workout right away, as I continued focusing on my academic life. But then, he kept on sending me a count of walk he achieved everyday. Yes, he chose outdoor walking as a workout. He adjusted to walk (min) 5k steps each morning, sometimes more. You know, it bothers you when someone keep on sending the same sh*t regularly right? Haha. With his limited time, he decided to get up earlier to had workout before he went to office. If that wasn't enough, you had to hear this.. he did it alone! OMG, it was a brave movement. As a person with certain anxieties, I adore that side of him. And he responded gently,
"If your friends don't want to go to workout with you, then just go alone. Why? Because you are the one who's gonna get healthy and not them."

It added one more to the whys list I have to do workout.

That's why when I got my day off, I made my mind and went to Sanur beach to have afternoon walk. I was afraid at first, to walk alone in the crowd and not knowing anyone. I still remembered he mentioned that being in touch with nature always help him to feel good. I understood that, when my tangled mind stopped as I took 5, 10, 15 steps.. and watched the 4 pm sun slowly going down along the shoreline. I closed my eyes and feel the nature.. the wind, the waves.. On that day, I found another way to brought peace in me.

I've been addicted on doing outdoor walk since then (been 2 months now). Preferably a place with good nature within it. This is a life-changing event that I never know I need. Benefits?
  1. Feel refreshed physically
  2. Grateful for little things around me
  3. Clarity of mind
Now, thinking of it.. it's strange how a complete stranger can help you grow faster than the environment where you were used to be raised in. The key? To always open for new opportunity to learn and remember sharing is caring.

Cheers!
